Blockchain is starting to show great potential to make robotics and AI operations more secure, autonomous, flexible, and even profitable. Therefore, bridging the gap between purely scientific domains and real-world applications. This symposium seeks to move beyond the classical view of distributed systems to advance our understanding about the possibilities and limitations of combining state-of-the art robotics and AI systems with blockchain technology.

Decentralized artificial intelligence and robotics have the potential to revolutionize many applications.

Boosted by technological advancements, such as cloud computing and novel hardware design; nowadays AI virtual and robotics physical are starting to become an important part of activities such as logistics, autonomous transportation, emergency management and healthcare.

For instance, controlling the behavior of large teams of autonomous agents either physical or virtual still presents unique challenges for human operators. In addition, important issues in the fields of data privacy, security, safety, and transparency can become burdens for the future use of AI and robotics in high-sensitive scenarios. Therefore, novel solutions to these issues might be necessary steps towards mainstream adoption. Blockchain, an emerging technology originated in the time-stamping field in the s and recently in digital currency sector, demonstrates that by combining peer-to-peer networks with cryptographic algorithms, agents can reach agreements in a transparent and decentralized manner without the need for a controlling authority.

For instance, blockchain-based applications such as "smart contracts" are already showing great potential to make distributed robotics operations more secure, autonomous, flexible, and even profitable.

Therefore, blockchain promises a way to bridge the gap between purely scientific domains and real-world applications. This Call of Papers CFP seeks to move beyond the classical view of distributed and decentralized systems to advance our understanding about the possibilities of combining autonomous agents either physical or virtual with blockchain-based technologies.

Insights about the following questions are especially important: What blockchain tools are available to increase the auditability, transparency, and reliability of AI and robotics?

What kind of algorithms are suitable to combine both technologies? Are there new models and methods to connect autonomous agents to blockchain-based innovations such as "smart contracts"? Is blockchain technology a suitable way to achieve emergent aggregations of autonomous and self-adaptive agents? Are there new business models for AI and robotics based on cryptographic algorithms? We seek manuscripts with conceptual and theoretical contributions as well as papers documenting valuable results of experiments conducted with real-robots or AI implementations.

We welcome research reviews that provide a comprehensive view of any of the fields mentioned previously. Therefore, all contributions to this CFP must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.

Abstract : Science fiction has long promised a world of robotic possibilities: from humanoid robots in the home, to wearable robotic devices that restore and augment human capabilities, to swarms of autonomous robotic systems forming the backbone of the cities of the future, to robots enabling exploration of the cosmos.

With the goal of ultimately achieving these capabilities on robotic systems, this talk will present a vision of autonomy centered on the critical role that control theory plays in practically realizing dynamic behaviors on robotic systems. The application of these ideas will be demonstrated experimentally on a wide variety of robotic systems, from walking robots to robotic assistive devices—all with a view of bridging the theory to experimental realization gap. These results will be framed in the broader context of seeking autonomy on robotic systems.

Ames received a B. Thomas inand he received a M. Eckman Award recognizing an outstanding young engineer in the field of automatic control. His research interests span the areas of robotics, nonlinear control and hybrid systems, with a special focus on applications to bipedal robotic walking—both formally and through experimental validation. His lab designs, builds and tests novel bipedal robots, humanoids and prostheses with the goal of achieving human-like bipedal robotic locomotion and translating these capabilities to robotic assistive devices.

This makes them unsuitable in applications that have limited data or require safety or stability guarantees, such as robotics. By infusing structure and physics into deep-learning algorithms, we can overcome these limitations. I will demonstrate several different approaches to achieve this.

The day witnessed three technical sessions and one short-presentation-cum-poster session. The Conference Banquet was held at The Westin Velachery and the delegates were treated to melodious rendition of Veena musical instrument by artists, followed by a great banquet dinner. The conference aims to create a forum to present and exchange new ideas by researchers and developers from India and abroad working in the fields of robotics and its applications.

The conference would have plenary talks, oral and poster presentations, and special industry oriented sessions.
